ITS SO HARD TO PUMP GAS IN MY MARO. WHEN I PULL THE TRIGGER ON THE PUMP, IT GOES THEN CLICKS OFF. SO I HAVE TO DO IT IN SHORT LIGHT PULLS ON THE TRIGGER TO KEEP IT FROM CLICKING OFF. AND IT TAKES ME FOREVER JUST TO PUT EVEN $10. AND IT HAPPENS AT ALL GAS STATIONS. WHAT CAUSES THIS?

 

I've had that happen to me before even on non-Camaro cars! For some reason, the pump nozzle is getting splashed back upon and the sensor is clicking it off. Have you tried pulling the nozzle back some and not shoving it all the way into your filler neck?

 

I have a friend with a '76 vette with the same problem, as Camaro 69 suggested, pull the nozzle a bit out, that cleared it up for my buddy.

 

Nah nah ya got it all wrong. Is your check engine light lit? If your evap system has ANY problems with the vacuum lines that will happen. My car does the same thing, takes forever to get gas and when you open up the cap to fill it there is no hissing sound right? If your gas cap hisses then im wrong, otherwise it is probably the evap system.

 

YEA. MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT IS LIT. AND IT DOESNT HISS. ^^^^ SO HOW DO I FIX IT?

 

Check your evap vacuum lines, and possibly the canister if you feel so inclined. The canister on 99-02 f-bodies have the canister on top of the gas tank, there are two ways to go about reaching that. You siphon out all the gas, lower the axle and everything and all that jazz to get the gas tank out and do it that way, or you could cut a whole from inside the car to reach the top of the gas tank from the trunk.... Make sure you do some research before attempting the cutting one as flames and gas vapors dont mix
