Default recomended tire psi?

im running 215/60-15 up front and 255/60-15 on the rear. im concerned about my rear tires wearing out in the center prematurely, which has happened to me befire with another car, and the tires that came off were the same way too. i think the tire might be too wide for the rim, but i dont think it would be. stock size rims, just aluminum. im running 30 psi now in the rear tires, and 38 up front. i left a patch of rubber at school, and it seems like there is only about 4-5 inches of tire making contact on the ground.

The 255s need at least an 8" rim, 9" would be better. The narrow rim is going to force the center out and make it wear out faster. Excessive pressure will just make it worse, low pressure to correct the problem will make for bad handling. The only tires that stretch safely at high speed are drag racing slicks, because they are especiallly constructed to do it. If you street tires are doing that, you are spinning them too fast and will soon blow out.

They came in various sizes, depending on options. The rim size is usually marked on the rim.
