rear leaf springs

rear leaf springs
I'm getting ready to replace my rear leaf springs in my '69 Z28. I looked at a few sites and the price varied from $85 to $200. Does anybody have suggestions as to what is better or not? The price difference concerned me.

RE: rear leaf springs
It's been a few years since I did mine on my 69 but I think the total for parts was around $275. I put a 5 leaf pack on each side and got the ride height where I wanted it. Installed them myself so I don't know what you'll see for a labor cost but I would highly recommend going with 5 leafs if you want the stance to look factory with a little slop to the front. Mine sits about even because I put a beefy set of front springs in to compensate for the big block. A single leaf isn't bad, I just see more fatigue from them over time.
Check with a local supplier instead of looking on the net. There are usually good shops that focus on spring work only. Look into the larger industrial shops that you may find in the yellow pages that do it. Most times they are equipped for cars and they know there stuff even if it may cost you more.
Maybe your seeing price differences because of the quality of metals used, if they come with the u-bolts, washers and nuts, if they come with bushings, shipping charges, **** like that.
