Default Problems with my 94 Camaro

Ice here. I have aproblem with my 94 Camaro that I was hoping someone might know something about it. I just recently purchased it from my mom about two weeks ago, and it was a pretty long drive to get to where I am at now, but a few days after I arrived the car craped out on me. I was driving to a store and it backed fired, then died. I tried to start it, and it fires and turns over, but won't start. Unfortunately, I really know nothing about cars as of the moment, so there was nothing I could do but leave it there at the store. I went back a few days later and it started up. As i was driving home, it died on me again. So, again, I had to leave it. Came back a couple days later, and it started up again. Now, it's at my house but I don't know what to do with it. Lights, Ac, Heater, all of that works, but if I drive it, it will die on me. I wish I had more information to give to you guys, but I'm still learning. Any ideas or suggestions?

Also make sure you have gas in it. The gas gage on these cars is goofy and you are out of gas at the 1/4 mark.

I'm not the only one with a goofy gas gauge? It doesn't run out of gas at the 1/4 mark, but it does do some crazy jumping around when it starts to get lower. It'll pop up to full, stay there a sec, go down to empty, stay there for a sec, then go back to where it is supposed to be (I guess).
