Default 73 camaro problems, need help!

i own a candy red 73 chevy camaro auto, and i have a problem with the acceleration. i have taken it to a mechanic here locally who actually rebuilt my motor but he cant figure it out. any help is greatly appreciated. what happens is with normal drive car runs fine but as soon as i romp on it(accelerate a lot) the car dies. the car had a holley carb but replaced it with an eddlebrock and as soon as i did this car started with the problems, the mechanic has checked, double checked and triple checked and cant figure out the problem. please help!

put the holley back on and see if that fixes the problem.if it fixes the problem, look at getting rid of the elderbrock or take it apart and see whats wrong with it.

I agree put the holley back on and see if it still happens. I would check out the accellerator pump and make sure it's functioning on the edelbrock, sounds like it's dead. Also sounds like you could also have a secondary problem on that edelbrock carb, not getting gas to the secondaries. Is float level ok? If the car still has the problem with the Holley installed. I would bet it's a fuel pump issue, either a weak fuel pump or you might have a leaky tubing on the intake side of the pump which is sucking air in at open throttle not giving you enough gas to keep up with the open throttle.
