Default Parking brakes replacement.

My pb has worn out...figures..you use it. it wears out over time...you don't use it..it seizes up.
Anyway, my mechanic informs me that good ole GM requires that you buy the whole assembly and not just a couple of bolts which are causing the problem. I believe him, but there is no aftermarket product and of course the original parts are $400 (Canadian). Anyone else had to do this?

haha, well I used to use it all the time, given that I have a standard transmission..but I've been going without for about 4 months now.

Yeah. On my friend's Evo, I removed the ratcheting device on his handle so he doesn't have parking brake either. It's a tubor 2.0 motor with a 5 speed tranny. It should be wamred up and allowed to cool down so the oil flows to the turbo easier and it doesn't coke in the lines after shut down. Pain in the *** cuz u pretty much have to stay in the car with your foot in the brake. We solved the problem by using the garage parking helpers to hold it in place when needed. Other than that when it's off we just leave it in gear.

Use a synthetic oil and you won't have to be concerned with the oil turning to "coke". The warm-up and cool-down is still a good idea.

Thanks, We run Mobil 1 in it. Funny thing about other places changing oil.
