That may be the right thing to do. If the 3.4 is like other 60 degree V6s' the cam does not have aplug on the back behind the flywheel/flexplate. It will use a bolt on cover witha gasket that tends to leak over time. Valve covers and oil pans also like to leak.

It all depends on where the leak is coming from. If it's the valve covers, or intake manifold for instance, it can be done with the engine still in the car.
And Mike, are you sure about the cam plug? I happen to have a 3.1 (60 degree v6) justsitting around waiting to get stuffed into my Fiero. It has a plug (similar to freeze plug) and not a bolt on cover. There couldbe a difference due to the year/vintage of the engine...maybe?

Well the 3.1 in my brothers 90 Camaro and the 2.8 from my mom's S10 (not sure the year for that since the previous owners said it was a rebuilt) bot had that bolt on cover. The cam goes to the very end and there is not enough material for a plug to go into.

What was your 3.1 from?

Mine was from a front wheel drive. That could be the difference, if there's a block design difference (aside from the obvious mounting issues). It'll bolt right up to the Fiero trans, so it'll be theeasy way to stroke a 2.8!
Hey, maybe if we talk long enough, Killswitch will get his oil leak fixed!!!
And Mike, is it true what I hear. In California, if your car leaks oil, the EPA will track the drops to your doorstep and bust yer azz??

Yeah the front drive 3100 is different. The starter is also on the opposite side too I thought.

Oh yeah those EPA bastards. They think the are CIA or DEA. Did you know even those bastards at the DMV carry guns. Who the hell do they think they are. Watch your A$$ if you put the stickers on the wrong side of your plate.

But that oil leaking I got figured out. I found this on BMWs'.
I cover the underside of the engine with a plastic cover, like many imports, but like BMW does I stick a large piece of foam on it so it will soak all the oil drips

Well there are times of oily discharge where a diaper would be very useful.
