Default 1994 z28

I have been looking for a first car for a long time now and I have found a 1994 z28 and i would like your input. The guy is asking 5,000 for it with 21,000 miles but the kelley blue book is more around 3,500. Do you think that i should haggle with him or just give the asking price? Thanks

Actually KBB lists it at $4795 assuming it is in excellent condition and the options match what put in. His $5000 asking price is pretty close. Of course you should always try to get the car for less, I would offer $4500 and be willing to pay $4700 if it was really a car I wanted and needed nothing. If the car has anything wrong with it use the faults as a tool to get the price down a bit.

Thanks for the quick response. I was thinking of edmunds when I said 3,500. There is nothing wrong with the car at all except for the tires. They have about 20% left on them which I thought was odd for a car that only has 21,000 miles.

I dont know about service records but I did a carfax and the last time the miles were reported was in 1995 and there were 3,000 miles on it. I will check about service records. I am going to negotiate because now he tells me the a/c is leaking.

A car with 21,000 miles on it for sale for $5,000? That sounds a bit fishy to me. And now he tells you the a/c is leaking? Next it will be, "Oh, yeah, the transmission shifts a little bit funny too." The list will go on and on. Be very careful with this car. It sounds way too good to be true.

why is that fishy? that is what the car is worth obviously. also, i personally would never pay that much for a car over 10 years old, unless it was a 69 SS

The reason I say it's fishy is because for a car with only 21,000 miles on it, people would be trying to pull a premium on it. If there really isn't anything fishy going on, then $5,000 is one hell of a deal.

well, someone who just wants to get rid of it wont even bother trying to pull premium on something that old IMO
