Default Nozzle near Distributor?

I have a 81 camaro with a 350. There is a bronze nozzle on the back of the block next to the distributor which im not sure the purpose of. when it is not blocked off it squirts oil out when the car is running. just wondering what this nozzle is?

If you're talking about on the edge of the block, directly behind the intake manifold, that's an oil pressure port. Sounds like you have a fitting there, which would have been connected to a manual oil gauge. Or a pressure switch (sending unit) can screw in it's place, for connecting an electric gauge instead.

Do you currently have an oil gauge, and is it hooked up/working? If you have one but not hooked up, is it electric or mechanical? Which type you have determines where to go from here. I don't spose you can post a picture of the "nozzle" that's on the block?

That's a small tubing fitting for a mechanical gauge. Hard to tell, is that a solid plug or a nipple fitting at the end?
