I don't really know much about the 3.8's but you have mentioned temp sensor, thermostat and over flow jug...I know there is a temp sensor...somewhere on the lower end of the block...(i know...no help)manual...how is the head gasket in that car??? has the head ever been off?

alright,my temp gauge reads 200-205 with a stock 195 thermo. just a lil higher then usual. i put the 180 thermo in. it reads 195. i put the 160 thermo in and it reads 180. now this is on cool nights and this just started happening to me. i accedently overfilled the jug, my fault lol.now you all will say camaros will always run hotter, but my little needle never touched 200, just a little under. so like i said this just started and i want to find out why.

I know it sounds dumb...but have you actually checked the rad?. Sometimes the coolant doesn't drain properly from the overflow, full when hot, close to empty when cool...you may just be low in the rad ?.
