Default RE: lookin for the best drivetrain

[:@] john not quite sure what all your askin for help on. it sounds like you would like to change the gears in the rear end?? if you have 4.56 ( horrible street gears kinda racy race only) as im sure youve found out, then you must stay in the 4.00 series gears unless you are willing to change carriers also. the carriers 2,3,and 4 series are based on thier respective gear ratios and have different spacing for the gear sizes.

most transmissions both auto and manual usually have a final drive ratio of 1 to 1. this is where tha newer trannies come in handy as some have true overdrive gear ratios and can allow rear end ratios into the 4.00's and still retain some streetability and get a good jump at the stoplight or the strip. ive found 3.73 to be a good all around ratio but its a preference and mileage thing kurt
