Mine's not a '96, but that doesn't matter, the only difference if you have 2 O2 sensors after the cats. Anyway, if you get LT headers and are still going to run cats you have to get a catted Y from the manufacture of your headers. This is the exact reason why I went with Kooks, they offerend everything I needed and from what I read quality was extremely high(and it is), they also have the best ground clearance for the LT1 cars(there was an article about a '96 LT1 build from Chevy High Performance where they used Kooks for that very reason). I didn't really run into any issues, it's a bit of a trick to get them on the car(you have to jack the motor), but other than that they're great. I would recomend that you get additional spark plug heat shields, the car came with 3, but you can get more from a GM dealership and with LT headers they're a must so you don't fry those plugs/wires.
