Very possible. Things do not always work as advertised. LOL

 

I have a 96 Camaro with a 3.8 engine and it had been doing the exact same thing. It was in the shop for about 2 weeks. Finally, the mechanic found the problem. It is your ECM/PCM. I replaced mine and have not had any more problems. Replace it before you are not able to start the car anymore. Also, if your key is pretty old, you must invest in a new key because that's where my problem originated.
