First, i bought an 89 camaro that i was told has the 2.8 in it. The CE light kept coming on so i checked the codes, it read EGR failure. When i checked the EGR, i found that it was digital. When i talked to a mechanic, he said they didn't come out with Digital EGR's until '91(Though im not positive on that). The EGR is not hooked up and i cannot find the connection anywhere in the engine compartment. How do i know what engine is in it, whether it be the 2.8 or '91 3.1? I looked for the VIN on the block but was not successful.

Also, what is the procedure on taking off the air pump or is that possible?
