1994 Z28

Here lately my car has been acting weird. The other day it would not start. It would turnover but then dieand fuel gauge went way way past the full mark. I tried it later and then it finally started and the fuel gauge went back to normal. A few days later the fuel gauge went way past the full mark and the car started sputtering and chokeing out. Do you think this has to do with my fuel pump?
