Fuel pressuer regulator?
I purchased a 1980 camaro a a while ago and am currently in the process of converting a seperate TBI 350 to Carb in order to swap the motor into the camaro. Thus far i have gotten new intake manifold and a new carb, everything else im just taking off the old motor. I have taken the fuel pump from the old motor and other random little things as needed. my question is whether or not i need a fuel pressure regulator or if the fuel pump in the camaro has the pressure pre set. Any help would be grealty appreciated, thanks.
Side note: i have a TH400 trans im putting in in place of the TH350, does anyone know the specs of the new drive shaft i need to get?...thanks again.

RE: Fuel pressuer regulator?
Your TBI FI engine was fed fuel from an electric in-tank mounted pump. Your 1980 used a mechanical engine mounted pump. Does your new engine have provisions for using a mechanical pump? The mounting boss is probably there, but there's a good chance that the block isn't machined through to accept one. If it is, the old mechanical pump will work as it did on the old engine, and a regulator isn't needed. If not, you'll have to install an inline electric pump back by the tank (better to push than pull the fuel). And you won't need a regulator as long as the pump doesn't put out more than in the 5-7 psi range.

Well the push rod went all the way in (with some force because of the gunk build up) so i would assume that it was machined all the way through....just one more thing to worry about when i start this thing up...thanks for the help

Can you crank your engine over by hand at the moment? I would do that while pushing up on the pump rod to make sure the rod is moving up and down. I don't know about yours, but a cam designed specifically for an FI engine (electric fuel pump supplied), may not have the lobe on it to drive the mechanical pump.

Buy a Ford. You will be a happier person, and suck less.
