Default fuel level sending unit wire

alright, i determined myself, then read, that the fuel pump and sender use the same wires. on the plug, there is a red, black, and a light green wire. im assuming the the sending unit wire for the gauge is the green wire? i am hooking up autometer gauges and need to find the sending units.

I think the signal from the sender to the gauge should be pink.

well, ill experiment and see if i can remove the wires from the plug without cutting them, and see how that works. i know that wire should be pink, but so far, none of the other wire ive replaced were the color specified in the manual

Well if I remember correctly the temp is a green wire and if you hook that to the fuel gauge it may have a reading but be incorect or vary as the temp changes.

temp was dark green, this was a like a new grass green. and, it was the red wire, so i got that figured now. however, the oil pressure gauge doesnt work with the original sending unit

ODD. Since it does not work with the OEM sender (did you use the correct wire?) then you can get a "T" fitting that will allow you to use the OEM switch and the autometer. The OEM you should need for the fuel pump.
