looks like a waste of money to me, it looks like it just redirects the oil coming out, is it really necessary ?

Well it may be for people who really really hate to get that little bit of oil on their hands......To me it looks like a few more things that can cause a fatal leak.

Ok the explaination in that link is stupid. No more going around a skid plate with a wrench. Well you still have to get your hand up there to unscrew the cap and screw a hose on. And what keeps it from pouring out as you screw the hose on. Just stick to your drain plug. I have seen plugs that the mobile service trucks use that go from fleet to fleet servicing vehicles in thier yard. They just plug a hose on the end with a fitting like an air hose and it drains the oil. Those POS leak!
