hey guys im swapping my 98 3.6 engine because the crankshaft went bad and the car already has 127,xxx miles on it so i'd rather change the whole shabang... anyways i was looking to buy a 2001 3.8 v6 but not sure if its the same type of trans since its 3 years apart. anybody got any ideas? thanks

 

The engine from the 2001 has some slight differences from the one you currently have. The 2001 upper intake manifold is straight on, the one on yours is 'slanted'. The throttle on the 2001 is electronic, while the one on yours is mechanical and uses a cable to open it. Transmission should be the same. If you do use the engine from the 2001, all you should have to do is swap out the upper intake manifold and throttle body to your old style.
