Default Another engine swap question.

Ive got a 92 Camaro RS, The only mods ive got are flowtech shorty headers, offroad y, borla exhaust system, sway bars a strut bar and a stage 2 B&M shift kit. Its in great condition, runs great and looks great but the 305 has 190k and i want more horses. I was thinking about doing a 383 but i want to keep it simple so i decided i want a 350. im really not looking to do some LSX swap and i want to stay fuel injected. Im lookin for something in the 300 horse range and im looking to spend no more than 4k on the motor. preferably a turnkey. Anyone know where i can get said engine and while im asking, what all is needed for said swap?

A 350 of the same year will drop right in and then all you might change is the injectors for TBI. Some auto parts store sell Hi Performance long blocks with good waranties. They may make you pay core charge if you are not getting same size engine that you are giving them in exchange.

a 383 is the same size as a 350 block, internals and stroke are different. Me personally I would go for the 383 it would be about the same amount of work and bolt right up. Granted with the extra hp/tq you would need to build the tranny and possibly the rear-end. But you also pay alot more for a 383, so if money is an issue go for a 350.

GM Performance Parts?

A 350/290 runs about $2k depending where you are. I'm getting one, why not do the same~?

My 305 spun a bearing on me, so I figured I'd just drop a 350 in its place, rather than spend almost as much money fixing it. This was the first one to come to mind (and pretty much the cheapest, too)

do you have tbi or tpi for your fuel injection? if its tbi, it would be a bit cheaper to upgrade for a mild 350. you will need a prom chip for the 350, and i would suggest upgrading the tbi unit itself, instead of the injectors. holley makes a 670cfm tbi unit that is a direct bolt on replacement. if you are going for the cheaper side, any similar year truck tbi will work. im not 100% sure if anything is different aside from injectors. for the prom chip, i would suggest contacting www.pcmforless.com i have a chip in my car from them, my fiance has a pcm for her car, and i will order one sometime for my dd truck. they will get you more power out the 350 than just a gm chip would, and you can remove things that would cause the check engine light to come on. as for the engine, i bought mine from blueprint engines. excellent price, great technical help, and an awesome warrenty. feel free to look, but i think i found what you would like http://www.blueprintengines.com/inde...355-bp35511ct1

Not to thread hijack but I don't want to make a new thread since someone already started one, Do they still have the 383 you bought, I want to be able to use the TPI still and not go carb, do I just get this one http://www.blueprintengines.com/inde...-383-bp3834ct1 and use the stock tpi with the stock intake manifold? The engine will be the very last thing I do to the Camaro but I'm shooting for over 400+ hp reliably.
