Default Engine Swap.... Question?

Ok so my friend has a '96 Z28 LT1, 6 Speed. He managed to blow his engine up so me being the "Car Guy" im going to rip his old engine out and put his new one in. Now he had an LT1 of course... So i went ahead and found him another LT1 out of a corvette. Now im just corious, is there anything i should know about swaping these out? Like any particularly difficult parts? They are identical engines so space wont be an issue. Any info would be great. Thanks

Basically the same, except for some plumbing, which you can transfer over from the old engine, The water pump may have different intake and outlet angles.

Yeah that stuff shouldnt be to difficult. So basically its just going to be the connections (plumming, electric, fuel, etc.) Then basically just undo the motor mounts and rip that beezy out?

Oh and should i pull the trany out with it? then just put the new engine in tranny and all? Or would it be easier to just unbolt the tranny?.... Wait no that sounds more difficult. Ill jsut leave the tranny in.

And dispite what you've heard about pulling the engine from the bottom is the only way. Not true. I pulled my engine out from the top. You may have to remove the ac condensor though.

I just put a 383 in my camaro and removed my old engine and transmission from the bottom it went really well. This is a good site that might help.
