Default Engine swap- gas not sending

I put in a rebuilt 350 to replace the stock inline six, in a 75 Camaro. Everything is pretty much finished with the swap, the engine is turning on, we have only turned it on twice, but the gas is not sending through the fuel line. ---The accelerator linkage to the Edelbrock carb is not lining up, so I cant pump gas into the carb by the pedal yet. (any ideas on this, too?) We have a mechanical fuel pump, which was running fine from the 350 before the swap. Would it be normal for the gas to take a while to get through the fuel line on a new engine install?
Any advice or feedback would be great!~ also about how to adjust or replace the linkage---
'Thank you!!

There are a few things that could be happening.
First, did you replace ALL the rubber fuel lines? Sometimes they crack and will allow air to be sucked in which displaces the fuel. Since you said you have the same pump it is possible the poppet valves are stuck so it is not operating properly. I have had this happen on used pumps after sitting on the shelf for a while. Last thing, You didn't forget to put in the push rod, did you? Gas in the tank?

Easy way to check if it is pumping is put fuel in the bowl of the carb. On the left and right of Edelbrock carbs there is a vent. Each vent has a small plate held down by a screw. Next to the plate is a hole. Use a small squeeze bottle with a nozzle and put about 4 ounces of gas in the left hole. You should now be able to start the engine and keep it running. If your pump is operating as it should, it should be pumping gas into the carb before the engine dies.

For you gas pedal cable, get a universal bracket. Summit or Oreilly have them for about $15. It has provisions for the accelerator and the kickdown.
