Having a little bit of trouble with this new carb. I just installed a Edelbrock Thunder AVS 650cfm carb. Engine is a 350. It has a edelbrock performer air gap intake manifold. Ever since I put this carb on... when I hit full throttle from idle it backfires through the carb or sometimes the engine dies. But if I gradually take it up to full throttle then its fine. It does have MSD ignition and distributor with vacuum advance. 1st thing I checked was timing and the timing is ok. I also decided to check to make sure the camshaft timing was ok (the front seal was leaking, so I needed to replace it anyways). Camshaft timing was ok (stock cam). I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with this carb. When I was running my stock Quadrajet carb this never happened.
