Default Dumb ?

alright so ive looked around a little bit and am not able to find a definate answer to my question. I just bought a 93 Z28 and its running a little rough. the guy i bought it from said it was because it has an lt4 cam and it needs to be chipped, but when i was looking i noticed that the mass airflow sensor was not connected and some of the pins were broken. so i go to jegs to find a new mass air and see that all of them are for 94 and up. i start to check around and cant find any. than i find a place that says the 93's didnt have a mass air. is that true? im just a little confused and need an answer so i can fix my problem. ill attach a pic so you can see what im talking about.

I don't know what combo you have, but the 93s did not use a MAF. The 93s are quite a bit different than the 94 & newer. They do not use a MAF and rely on speed density instead of mass air, they use a 700R4 transmission instead of the 4L60E, they use batch fire injection instead of timed injection, and the computer is a ECM instead of a PCM. The 93ECM can take upgraded MEMCAL chips, the PCM does nor take chips (no place to put them). The newer cars, because of the MAF, will adapt to the LT4 cam for part throttle operation while 93 are stuck with the fuel & sparkmap programmed in the ECM MEMCAL chip. You should be able to get acustom reprogrammedMEMCAL chip or a piggyback chip to handle the LT4 cam. For full throttle operations both 93 & 94+ require a computer tune for best operation with a bigger cam. The LT4 cam will make the engine idle rough but it should smooth out above 1000 RPM.

thanks for the help. ill try to get some better pics up tomarrow and try to figure out what kind of setup its got. im new to the whole fuel injected camaro thing. lol ive only worked on carbed cars and dsm's before this one. i was also reading something about the stock lt1 knock sensor may need to be replaced by an lt4 one becuase of the cam. is this logical or is someone blowing smoke? sorry for all the questions i just like to know exactly what the car has and what it will need to make it run right. and i greatly appreciate anyknowlege you are willing to share with me.
