There was not an SS offered untill 96, but basicly the RS had a V6 with a body kit, the Z28 had the LT1 (until 98 when they went to the LS1). The 96 and 97 SS cars are kinda rare but don't really perform any better than the regular Z/28, the main thing they had was a ram-air hood which did'nt really give much HP and a nicer rear spoiler and some bigger sway bars and stiffer springs, also the SS cars had 17 wheels.
thanks for the info. i was thinkin of getting a convertible camaro as a daily driver, and i really didnt want a v6 and basically needed all the info you gave. but i think i found a nice little '72 datsun 240z.
