Default Dash Lights Not Lighting Up

Hey guys,
So on my 4 mile drive home, I looked down and my dash lights weren't lit up
Turn signals, tail lights, headlights, interior lights work fine

The dash was just dead
I also have a second tachometer by the windshield that's not lighting up either anymore

I'm going to check the fuse tomorrow when I have more light, but if that's not the problem, I wanted to post something just incase

If it's not the fuse... Whats the problem?

check the wires to the aftermarket tach. they could be causing the issue.

bad news, not the fuse.
or the dimmer control
the wires to the tach all seem fine,
where should I go next to diagnose the problem? Pull out the dash?

How did you test the dimmer control to see if it's bad, bypass it?

You can't assume that. The dimmer portion illuminates the gauges through resistance. All the way counter-clockwise, when you feel it click, is an on-off switch that works the interior lights. That's a separate operation from the dash lights dimmer part of the switch.

Mine did the same thing(Speedometer), but one day I saw a bulb hanging down(It lit up when I turned the lights on, but then it blew)... I just left it hangin down there, but one night the gauge lit up. Still working pretty good so far. Maybe yours will do the same thing mine did.

I'd say the tach and your dash lights share either the same ground or hot source. One of those is most likely the culprit. If it's the hot it's most likely the wire for dash lights has pulled out at the connector on back of headlight switch.
