Cowl induction hood

Cowl induction hood
Okay, I tried search without any luck.
My ride is currently torn apart...see new member post/pics. Before I removed the hood itwas working...kind of. The flapper valve only opened with the accelerator mashed to the floor (full throttle). A co-worker who's helping me with the build says it should open gradually as more pedals put into it.
One..is this true?
Two...how is it controlled?
Any help is much appreciated.
Very blurry Pic B4 tear down.

RE: Cowl induction hood
The original ducted hood (cowl induction) first came out on the 69 Camaro. A switch would get pushed in by the throttle linkage which then powered a solenoid on the hood which then opened the flapper valve. It's supposed to open fully at 90% throttle (not gradually) which is pretty darn close to "mashed to the floor".

That's true, that vintage model had the switch by the pedal. If it were my car, and summer only driven, I would just wire the damn thing open anyway and say screw the mechanism.

Cool. Thanks for the feed back. It does appear to be a proximity switch on the pedal. I kinda like the idea of having it open full time while driving but would like to have the option of closing it if needed. What do you think of a toggle switch to select open/closed?

I would want to have control of it too, to open it more often than just with the "heel to the steel".
A toggle switch is a good idea. I would leave it open all the time (weather permitting) to help alleviate under-hood heat. You could then keep it closed if needed in a heavy rain or cold weather.
