have a 96 z28 ... and everytime i try acceleratining at an average speed or higher my rpms just shoot up and gain no speed and i have to wait for rpms to go back down in order to attempt to accell anymore

have no idea what it could possibly be.?????.

 

Probably bad clutch if it uses a manual transmission, or a bad automatic transmisson. Something is slipping!

 

As said in the previous post the clutch is going south. The slipping is causing the RPM to go up with no increase in speed. Get you checkbook ready because it is not going to repair itself.
