Default 86 z28 thermostat

i just bought a 86 z 28 and the owner before me was very maticulis on service which was a good thing.she told me that it has a 220 degree t stat in it and the engine runs right at 220degrees.i believe oem did this for emissions but not sure of this.i looked in a chilton manual and show the car of running a 195 degree t-stat.if this is so what controls the electric fan for start and stop is it the temp sensor and if so can you purchase one with a lower control for the fan or is the fan programable thru the computer. thanks for any help

Welcome to the forums, post up some pic's if you have them. For the thermostat questions mabey post it in the 3rd gen section, more people will see it. And swing by the ROTM and vote when you have a chance.
