1979 Camaro HELP!
So I recently purchased a '79 Camaro Ralleysport, beautiful car! Has a new 350 I put in that only has about 3500 miles on it, so very new. Recently I replaced all the spark plugs and wiring because it was running really rich and some of the cords were cracking. When I took the plugs off they were covered in burned black oil so I know I have a problem with my carb. but now after I replaced the spark plugs and wiring I can't get it to idle easy or when I press on the accel. it dies.... any thoughts and help would be great.

RE: 1979 Camaro HELP!
If you're getting black crusty oil build up on the plugs, it's an oil issue...worn valve guides and/or rings.
But if the plugs had more of a black soot instead of crusty crap, then it's a rich carb.
For your running problem, double check your plug wires against the firing order. You could have accidentally crossed a couple of wires when you changed them. Firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 should be cast onto the intake manifold, and the distributor rotates clockwise.

Thanks for the reply and I checked it does have that cast into the block. I also thought maybe I had the choke high or something could that be the problem too? When I pulled those plugs they were black and a little wet and I think I have the wires on in the correct firing order, is there something I can check it against??

RE: 1979 Camaro HELP!
When you changed the wires, did you do one at a time or all at once? They can be in the correct firing order, but off by one terminal on the dist. cap.
