i just got a 1979 camaro from my uncle, recenlty decesed, and i got it in his will. i really want to fix it up so taht i will remember him, because i rememberdriving around in it with him when i was younger. but it needs alot of work.
im a high school student, and how do you say, financially challenged.
few questions.
--i need new cheap floop pans, passenger and driver. key word, cheap.
--will 1974 floor pans fit in the 1979?
--is there a site for cheap sheet metal for this, casue i am going to need some more.

my friend is a profesional welder and he said that he would hep, and i am taking a welding class in my school as part of my senior requirments, so thats no problem, and i ahve all the welding stuff, and all the tools i will need are avaliable to me.

please help, im trying to get this done by the spring, so that my aunt and i can drive it on thier anniversary.

feel free to email me, at abel.towle@gmail.com

Well cheap is cheap, you get what you pay for. Http://www.nationalpartsdepot.com is where I get my sheet metal from. If you get doors from them, be prepared to tweak them and grind and add material. They are made in Japan and won't fit straight up. I recomend going on ebay and getting some factory doors from there.

I Agree. Just save your money and it's bound to happen in good time. This is your porject and if you want to restore it you should not worry about spending a little money here an there.
It'll all be worth it in the end
I am also a student and I'm saving money for my Engine for my '79. It's gonna take at least six months but when I get it I'll be so much better off doing it right rather than doing it cheap.
When you're all done you wont regret a dime. It only takes a little patience and I'll work out better that you could ever dream.

Good luck man! Keep us updated!
