I just bought A 1968 Camaro convertable and the only thing on the cowl tag is:
Special mask
Special paint

Is there anyway of finding out what the car had for original-paint,engine and so on????
Thanks patnd2

Give me your VIN, I will decode it for you, it should be: 1,2,even number,3,7,8,N or L,final six digits are your serial number, N = Norwood, Ohio,., L= Van Nuys Cal., The fisher body style plate: first two symbols are ST= style body, third and fourth symbols=year, fifth= division(chevy), sixth and seventh=23-V-6, 24-V-8, eighth and ninth= 37= two door coupe,67= convertible, all I can find on colors is this ===== A=black,CC=ermine white,DD=grotto blue,EE=fathom blue, FF=teal,GG=gold,HH=grecian gold,JJ=green,KK=turquoise,LL=teal blue,NN=maroon,OO= corvette bronze,PP=green,RR=red,TT=ivory,UU=lemans blue,VV=sequoia green,YY=yellow and ZZ=british green, I know the TR on it indicates interior trim and the PNT is of course paint. That's all I could find, I think I am more lost than you now, let me know what you find, you have me interested in this.

I've never seen a trim tag like that. That car wasn't built for export, or a rebuilt in general, was it?
And, the VIN number contains NO trim/engine options info. It will only tell if it is a V-8 or 6 cyl. car.
