I could happen. Some LS1s came with an automatic and an "economy" rear axle. Not sure how many of if it was common. Maybe it was one of those. A really hot LT1 in good tune against one of those with dirty air filters and who knows what neglect -- I can see it happening. But I wouldn't count on it when I pull up to the next one on the street, either.

 

I would have to say that Coprunr is correct. I have seen his car beat alot of LS1's at a 1/8 mile track. Though in the 1/4 I will have to say that most if not all of the LS1's will beat an LT1 stock for stock. Driver has alot to do with it I do know that Coprunr can drive the **** out of his car and alot of the LS1's around here have 17 year old kids driving them that think they are hot ****. In any other race other than a 1/8 mile the LS1 should beat any LT1 stock for stock.

 

coprunr i would say the cars u named u should beat any way the beemers are slow and the other cars i would say a lt1 would win anyway i had a 95 z28 so i know the difference between the cars i am not saying they are slower but stock for stock both average drivers the ls1 pulls on the lt1 anyday unless ur a crappy driver which in that case i would have to say the better driver wins.

 

from what i have seen the LS1 is faster than the LT1 in the 1/4 no doubt ...but not the 1/8th. Big_bird_1985 has seen some of my driving (not tooting my own horn) , but i'm a damn good driver, and in 1/8 my car is stronger , i beat a 402cu in Vortec Supercharged GTO that runs 7.6's (1/8th) to the 60 ft mark. my car is deady off the line. i put car lenghts between me and LS1 cars off the line, then they run me down on the high end and have a better MPH , but i ALWAYS have a better ET that the LS1 cars stock to stock.... but my car is a "freak" because it is very light weight (as far as LT1 cars go) , ....it may be becuase my car has almost no luxury options and all performance options (except the LT4).... but yes i agree the 1/8th is more of a drivers race , so maybe i'm just that damn good [8D]

 

coprunr ur car sounds just like my 95 z i had no options but all performance lol haha light wieght and deadly off the line i will agrre with u 100% my 95 was the same an i killed off the line as well

 

I think coprunr just must be a good driver

bc a LT1 w/ no options will still weigh equal to or more than an LS1 with options. I'm figuring this with power seats vs. manual seats, power windows v. manual windows, power locks v. manual locks, keyless v. non-keyless...

all of those do not make up for the weight difference between the LS1 and LT1
