i have a 95 z28 with the lt1 and last night i was just cruising in 6th gear at about 1900 rpms when some punk kid in a ls1 keeps jerking back and forth at some attempt to race so i decided id let him feel better figuring he would smoke me . i dropped back about one car length and revved it up a little and he took off so i dropped her into 4th and let her rip and to my suprise caught up and surpassed him by about 5 car lenghts at the end. i got off at the on ramp and he insisted i was juicin or have some time of power adder. i said nah its all in the stock lt1 with a k & N air filter. believe what you will but the LT1 will never be lesser than the LS1 in my book.

 

it had to be a v6 u wouldnt take a ls1 by 5 lengths there is no way unless he was theworlds crapyest driver i messed with a firebird here an thought it was a ls1 after i smoked it i sall it was just a moded v6 an laughed

 

definitely had to be a v6... You wouldn't stand a chance from a dig or a roll with an ls1 brother. Your talking 10 lengths minimum stock for stock between the 2 in the 1/4

 

i have a chance with LS1's every weekend i go to the track. i have beat SEVERAL ls1 cars in the 1/8th. every ls1 out there is not stronger than every lt1 out there. there are lt1's that runquicker than they are rated and there are ls1's that are slower than they are rated. i ran a LS1 SS same color as mine from a dig and from a roll on the street and won both race's. i have ran several cars that are "suposed" to be quicker than mine and beat them. I.E. a BMW 335i (300hp twin turbo with the lastest and great crap on it) , ran door to door with a modded Mach 1 , and hurt a guy in a SRT8 Chargers feelings when he couldn't pass me.... take it how you will but every race doesn't end in LS1>LT1 .....

 

I don't see any stock ls1 losing against any stock lt1. Exclude mods, I'm strictly talking stock

 

my bone stock LT1 SS has pulled a best of 8.8 in the 1/8th @ Huntsville Dragway .... the fastest i haveseen a bone stock LS1 run there is a 8.7 .....most run 8.9- 9.1 ....

 

Drivers make up alot of a race, you cant compare two cars when you have different drivers with different skill levels. IMO, the LS1 has several improvments over the LT1 and is much lighter also.

 

Reminds me of a guy at the strip with a 67 Chevelle big block, 4 speed. He ran it through the quarter....and THEN his girlfriend got behind the wheel and when she took off and shifted it sounded almost like an automatic!! She really smoked it through the quarter....and beat the guys time with his own car!!! LoL

 

The law of averages will favor the LS1 in every way. You beat the driver, not the car man. If you ever say the heads of an LS1 compared to an LT1 you would know whay they are better and have more potential. Stock LT1=13.9-14.3 Stock LS1=13.2-13.5 in the 1/4 those are the facts man.

 

You must have gutted the cat, and swapped in a "performance" v6.
