what do you prefer 1/4 or 1/8 ?
It seems that some tracks are moving toward the 1/8 mile for more classes.
Personally, I enjoy watching the pro mods run the 1/4 as opposed to the outlaw automatics which run 1/8 mile.

Personally i run 1/4 however i see nothing wrong with some good 1/8 mile action. Big stalls and big gears make for some great launch action. But they both have there place.
The longer the race, the longer the fun lasts.
But just watching is boring. I don't go to a track very often... or at all... so when I race, I go until there's a clear winner. (typically 2+ car lengths, with no gain from the trailing car)

Actually, I like the standing mile best. At its final form, my 'vette would do just under 200 there - never did get it to that magic #, though, in the mile. Took just a tad over to get to 200.
So I prefer the 1/4 mile best among the two choices. The 1/8th mile is much more a driver's contest: it is mostly about the launch. As I get older (60) I'm not nearly as good at launching as I once was -- pretty lousy, in fact -- although my younger boy (27) is damn good when it matters:he can pull the Camaros wheels off the ground but keep in straight every time. Regardless, I've always been into engines and chassis (which can make a big diff in the 1/8th launch) and so I love mostly the longer courses - a mile makes it a test of pure power and car preparation. And you are really hauling *** at the end, too.
