what could I do in the quarter>?
I have a 454 bored to 472 450-460 lunati cam, 1.8 roller rockers, steel crank, 781 cast iron heads, 10.25 comp. keuith black pistons, edelbrock dual four barral setup ( 500cfm each), 130 gph fuel pump, msd 6al, taylor wires, hooker headers, resized rods, forged crank and i was wanting a rough estimate on how much hp and torque Im putting out? I was told around 500 on each but wan t more opinions. what do you think Ill run in the quarter with slicks, a turbo 350(3000 stall), 4.11 gears in a 67 camaro? how much does this setup weigh? thanks adam

RE: what could I do in the quarter>?
First, I assume this is in a 1967 Camaro. i don't know how much it weighs. I'd guess about 3100, but I suggest finding someone with a set of wheel scales and getting the weight on each wheel to see not only what the sum of all four is but how the weight is distributed. Likely as not the car is a bit nose heavy with this engine, or did you move the engine and trans back inthe frame a couple of inches (a lot of work, that).
As to the power it puts out, a 472 properly set up and tuned to perfection will do 500-550 in both HP and Torq. on an engine dyno (in my book thats equivalent to 475-525 flywheel rating once in the car) and I would expect about 425-430 at the rear wheels through you Turbo 350 trans.
THAT"S WHAT IT SHOULD MAKE, IF EVERYTHING IS COMPATIBLE AND TUNED RIGHT. i suggest getting it tested on a chassis dyno. If you get about 430 RWHP, then I think you are in the ballpark.
As to 1/4, realize the new Corvette ZO6 (rated at 505 HP by the factory) typically puts down about 450-455 RWHP through a 6-speed and weighs about 3125 lbs, and does the 1/4 mile in 11.7 @127 trap speed as tested my Motor Trend, etc. (this means it can do about 11.5if pushed hard). I would expect that you will probably run slicks or drag radials so you might do an 11.2 at 130+
As to the 4.11 gears, I'm not sure. Let's assume your engine redlines at 6000 and you are running Mickey Thompson slicks with a 28 inch diameter. Then you top out in fourth at 121 mph: too low -- you'll hit the redline before the end of the quarter. You would have to run 29.5 or 30 inch diameter slicks (Mickey thompson offers both, but I don't know if they will fit. with that 6000 RPM red line and 29.5s you would top out at 128, with full 30 inch slicks, 130 mph, which is still a little low. A 3.90 with 29.55 inch slicks gives you a top of 135 at 6000 RPM.
Of course, I don't know where your red line is, or where your power band is. If its 6500 then the 4.11s are about perfect. But a lot of carburated big block engines, including a couple I built in the past, peak at around 5500. If that's the case you might want a lower gear than even a 3.90. Regardless, I'd leave whatever you have in the car now and start worrying about that when you get the car set up and sorted out and are running on the high side of 120 in the quarter.
