well long story short my friend got a jetta. its a 01 i think. comes with a stock turbo. 2.0l engine 5 speed.. its all stock except a CAI.. My car is a 96 camaro rs. V6 5 speed with CAI and flowmasters.

we were going to run them this weekend but it didnt happen. so its probably going down tonight or tomorow for sure.. im thinking he might have me because of the turbo but i can deff launch harder than him.

so what do you guys think my chances are of beating him? whats his specs as a stock car vs mine? i wont give driver advantages to either of us.. both are probably at the same level. sooo what are your thoughts?? if we race it will be recorded so u guys will deff c a race by the end of the week..

and this other friend of mine has an 02 gt that is automatic that he wants to race me in.. now he will beat me im sure but ill give him a run anyways.

 

they're a high 15 second car stock, where you're closer to a low 15 car.

 

front tires to max pressure, if traction is a problem lose a little pressure on the rear. keep windows closed. if u dont, use super gas a day before to make sure its in the system. run the tank down if u have time so u dont have as much reg mixed in. u can unplug the alt just before if u think its going to be close. make sure ac is off. get all your stuff out of the car. less weight is good.

he was always a muscle car fan.. he drove a mustang for a while.. then my other friend got a jetta and started bragging how fast the turbo made it.. and this poor ricer got brainwashed.. oh well he spent almost 10k on his car.

2001 would be making 150HP and 155 torquecwith the 1.8T. The 2002-2005 cars where bumped up to 180HP and 174 torque also in the 1.8T. The only 2.0 offered in the same years was a 8 Valve 2.0 that made 115HP.

 

i thought he said it was a 2.0... but i know for a fact that it is 20 valve..

and in other words your saying ive got him in the bag??? nothing to worry about really?

 

Well if it is the 20 Valve it is in fact the 1.8L turbo.

You've got quite a bit more power, but quite a bit more weight too. Probably pretty close. I think you should have him though.

 

well im pretty sure the race is going to happen tonight. we have been talking about racing for a while now and its time to run them. i feel confident, i think i can have hime. i drove his car and it doesnt feel faster than mine. oh well only time will tell!!

but my other friend just picked up and 02 mustang GT. its an auto and he wants to race us too!! his car is stock but i know for sure he will take me. maybe i can get him on the launch but he will pull and pass me fast. .but just out of curiosity, what is his hp/torque?
