I should add something else, you guys just think this six is quick because this is the first thing to go down on this small forum. But it's one of the slower cars on some other forums, there's guys running low 11's and 10's with these things, fastest one was a TT 3.8 firebird that went high 8's. My camaro is a spec of dirt compared to what's out there, these engines really have incredible potential. To date, nobody on the planet has blown up the bottom end of one of these engines due to horsepower (just poor tunes, problems, etc.). They are incredibly strong. The biggest fall back is the cylinder heads, they suck. They aren't very strong, and flex under extreme boost and pop the headgaskets. One company tried to fix this problem, ZZP has their own aluminum heads available, but they too aren't perfect, and it's widely debated whether or not they are even worth the money. F-body V6 modding isn't even comparably as common as the FWD market (cars like the grand prix gtp, bonneville, regal, etc.), you could debate that the only reason we have an aftermarket is thanks to the supercharged fwd market. Then there's australia, we have double roller chains thanks to them. The amount of power those guys make with the same engine is staggering. They also were the first and only place to come up with a great stroker kit (the swan racing setup). ZZP attempted it, but failed in every way.

In short, my car is dull, simple, slow, and boring compared to what's out there. Just "exciting" on this forum since you guys are mostly v8 nutswingers, and find it shocking that a six can go fast. Hell, there's a few members in the club I'm in that run low 12's with their fwd 3.8 cars, a stock gtp runs mid-high 14's, and 13's with very affordable mods. 12's with a bit more, that's flying for heavy fwd cars, and competitive. Btw they get nearly 30mpg on the highway while doing it, simply incredible.

Music: 14.1 is quick for a N/A 3800 though, and you'll be in the 13s soon. Those guys with 3800s in the 11s and 10s are not N/A I'm guessing. They also probably completely destroyed their gas mileage, depending on what mods they've done.

Skyline: 67k miles for $4000 is a good deal, and sure he could get a wrecked LT1 for less. But like I said, when you add all the costs of doing the conversion, it would be way more money than the $2500 he spent. And it still wouldn't be a brand new engine.

There's a few in the high 11's NA, one is running 12.8, and another is running 13.5 with a bone stock engine (NOTHING done inside, all weight redux)

I don't compete in auto-x at all, it's just for fun. So I really don't care what class they throw me in. Although my springs are stock, my front bar came off a ws6, and my rear came off a z28 (smaller that a ws6 rear). Although recently I've been leaning more to making it a dedicated drag car since PIR is an hour away, and drag racing is cheap. Also, I'm very competitive in bracket racing since I can cut a double zero light all day long, and this thing is deathly consistent at the track. But right now it's a reliable efficient DD that is a kick in the pants to drive.

And BTW, the stang is almost in the 9's with the new stroker, just need taller tires so we don't have to let off just past the 1/8 and it's there.

Pic for those who forgot about it:

I've never seen a picture of the Stang, just the hole in the Oil pan? Wasn't it?

Wow, so are their internals much more powerful than yours or is it also from weight reduction/other factors? Cause if you're getting about 300 hp at the crank I thought that was pretty much the limit for these engines.

Nobody knows the true limit of these engines, one guy is up to 650hp at the wheels, single turbo. Here's his f-quick page, it's a bit out of date though.

If anybody will blow the bottom end, it will be Patrick. And he still hasn't managed to do that and he's putting 650 to the ground... For an N/A V6, 14.1 is good. Low 13s is when being N/A starts being impressive =P

the 3.8's bottom end can hold a LOT of power. just look at some of the Buick GN's. there's quite a few that are running north of 700rwhp on the stock bottom end. and a few running 1500+rwhp on forged internals.

And damn Steve a 9 flat 1/8th mile! That's almost 4 tenths faster than mine. You can get into the 13's I would say if you get the tuning and intake lined out!
