Default what work is required for a cam swap?

im lookin to get a lunati voodoo cam for my 305 tpi with 700r4. i already plan on replacing my valve covers, and im takin the rad out too. im also planning on installing headers while im at it. what all has to be removed to work remove the cam and install a new one? i dont have a garage to work in, so its all being done in my driveway. i already know i have to remove the valve covers and waterpump, as well as pushrods and lifters. how do i remove the push rods without removing the rockers? im not too much a fan of adjusting the rockers, and im inexperienced with it (once on a lawn mower engine).

You have to adjust the rockers after a cam swap, there is no other way to get the push rods out. You will also need new valve springs that are matched to the cam. Swapping a cam and not putting in new springs is a complete waist and will not get you the performance that the new cam potentaly has. You will also need to remove the timing chain cover, harmonic balancer (you 100% need a puller and install tool for this). When you put it back together put in a new double roller timing chain. It sounds like you have never done this before, I suggest finding someone who has to help you or at least get a shop manual for the car.

Get yourself a good shop manual, read about the job, and then decide if you are able to do it. Then follow JD's advice and get someone who has done it before to help out. You don't want to wind up whith a bunch of parts left over on your driveway. Also, engine work should be done in a clean location to prevent dirt from getting into the engine and chewing things up later.

i think you guys convinced me not to do it. i really dont want to mess my engine up, and i dont have the money to buy the extra things like springs, a puller, and finding someone to help me free of charge. and i definatly dont have the money for a shop to do it. i guess i can save that money then for when i intend to buy a motorcycle
