Default Rear Main Seal on a 3.8 Auto

I posted this up in the V6 section with no response. So, I'll try here!

My car is an Auto, and it's leaking oil onto the crossover exhaust pipe from the drivers side of the engine. I am sure it's oil and not anything else. I read somewhere once before that it takes almost 8 hours to do this job!. Anyone else do one? Was it a pain in the butt? Is it as easy as dropping the trans and prying out the old seal and installing the new one?

If you plan to chenge the rear main seal, the transmission will have to be removed, so gage your time accordingly.

I was more curious about the whole job. I know the trans has to come out. I was looking at the new seal and it looks like there is some sort of "cover" that goes on the back of the engine and coolant passes through it. I just don't want to take it off and have coolant all over me!
