Rear Main Seal fix
I got a little oil leaking through the drip hole in my Tranny Bell Housing, and i had it up on the lift at my friends shop, he said it might be my Rear main seal??, anyone know if this is fixable by myself? anyone do it already? and if so/not, any websites with pics or anything to help me out?

rear main seals suck....as far as i kno...from what i understand you gotta undo the motormounts jack up the motor and drop the and drop the oil pan to get them out...you could probably do it yourself but its a job

If its just small drips, let it be. If it is bigger drips, that eventually will become a puddle, maybe you should take car of it. Rear mains seals are not for people that are inexperienced. Its a labor intensive job that requires time. Keep an eye on it, if you start to smell burning oil cause its getting on your exhaust, do something about it. If its not leaving puddles of oil where you park, a drip here and there, dont worry. Just frequently check your oil. The motor has to be jacked up, the oil pan has to come out. blah bla blah..

The LT1 engine is known for developing oil leaks at the top rear of the block where it meets the intake manifold. The oiloozes down the back of the block and into the bell housing and drips out of the hole in the cover. Before you go about changing the rear seal and accomplish nothing, run your fingers where the rear of the intake manifold and engine block meet & check for oil.
