Default Wanting to take my 94 to the track

Ok, so i want to take my 94 to the track to see what kind of times i can get but ive never even been to a dragtack and i dunno what i need to bring or do, or how much it costs lol.. i went to the tracks website and its got some reading material but before i go i wanna ask about the condition of my car. Its got 121K+ miles and when i turn it on there is a faint ticking, but when i took it to get serviced they didnt mentioned it. I just got a full 20 point oil change and fluid check and they said im good to go, just need a new filter (there were giant flies and stuff stuck in my filter!!) Anyway...

i have no idea what my car actually has done to it and what it doesnt .. I cant tell from looking at my engine.. but it looks stock.. but compared to my mustang v6 its alot faster lol. It does leave parallel lines tho.. and long ones...

Heres my engine:

What do you guys think? Would it be a good idea/safe for me to run a couple ofraces to see what kind of times i get?.. I was TOLD my car has 400 horses.. ported heads, chipped, 4 stage tune.. larger tb and MAF... It doesnt have a cat, it has 3 inch pipes and thats all i cant see..

Also any Washington 4th gen owners wanna come along and help me out? Or check my car out and see what they think? If not i can take pictures of stuff... lol thats about it.

I can tell you that looks completely stock to me, and the bigger TB and MAF won't get you anything with that crappy stock airbox on there. Take it to the track and run it a couple of times, post them up and we'll be able to tell you whether it has 400 horses or if that was something the seller said to get you to buy it.

looks basically stock, but if it does have ported or otherwise improved gm heads it will look bone stock. I knew a boy who had a neon running 13s that looked stock but had cams, ported and polished heads, etc. could not tell by looking, but it was modded. thats like if you bought a 307 camaro like mine, then stuck 350 badges on the motor, no one would know. take the car to the track, post times, we tell ya what ya got

Rookie....What do you mean it can never hurt..Obviously you have never been to the track.. Blown head gasket, fried clutch, broken U-joints, over heating, inexperienced driver. I see it all the time, every week. Some kid thinking he is John Force mis shifts and either over revs the engine, or launches with street tires and spins the tires for the first 60 ft and blows up the rearend cause he never lets off.
Here are some tips about going to the track. Take everything out that isnt bolted down..extra weight will slow you down.. Make sure your tires are propely inflated, nuthin like trying to push flat tires. Bring a pair of pants, most if not all tracks wont let you race with shorts on. You will get your best times with the engine cold. Keep your windows up and A/C off while racing, your windows down will create drag.
PAY ATTENTION TO THIS... Staging..Thats when its your turn to race. Watch others before its your turn. There is a tree consisting of six yellow lights and a green and a red. Watch the guy helping you stage. After you light the first yellow, slowly (crawl) forward until you light the second yellow.Stop, you are now staged. Once you are staged and the dude next to you is the tree will start to light. Yellow, Yellow,Yellow,Yellow, green. When you see that third yellow come on, punch it. Even though there is still one light left, the time it takes for power to transfer to the rear wheels is not faster. Have fun and becareful. The track is full of the nicest guys you will ever meet. If you break something or need help, someone is always willing to lend a hand. If you are unsure, ask questions, nobody will laugh at you. Good Luck.
