There are too many electronics inside the Opti. The sparking inside the distributor creates a lot of ozone and when it combines with water corrosion takes place. You wind up with erratic timing signals to the PCM and crossfires inside of the distributor. You may want to look at the coil control module, ignition coil coil, and check all wiring and connectors going between the PCM, Opti, coil, and coil module.
