Default New V8 technical question

Hello Everyone,

I'm thinking about purchasing a V8 instead of a V6 of the 2010. I read that the incredible fuel economy on the V8 is because when the power of the V8 isn't needed, it runs on only for cylinders. If that is true, does it alternate the 4 to get the same wear and tear on all cylinders? I know it should.

That and any other info is appreciated.

Thanks.
