Default mark your blocks after aline hone !!!

hey guys , hows the world treating you?
i just helped a friend of mine find an oil leak on his freashly assembled 400 small block.

he is a fanatic for 400's and 383's , same friend that has a 434 small block.
needless to say he is a master engine builder buy any standards.

how-ever , never under estimate the power of time!
he had just changed engine in his car and pulled out a 400 block from the back of the garage he had re-machined 8 years ago.

all this to explain that after installing it had a terrible oil leak from the rear of the pan. he did his pan gasket three times buy the time i got there and he was putting on another pan to see if that would help ... same.

i told him it was impossible to still be the pan, but couldn't make him think the new rear main seal was no good. finally with the cap on the bench we could see that the whole seal was in the cap if we put a straight edge over the top.

he finally realised in screaming that he was stupid ....
after align boring the caps you need a bigger seal like the bigger bearings

fel pro # 2909 for smc 400 in case any body is interested
