Default hypereutectic pistons- good or bad

i hear everyone say that theyre crap, but none of them have ever had any real experience with them. my plans are for a mild 350 tpi, a cam with .440 exhaust lift with a 1.5 rocker, bigger throttle body, headers, bigger injectors, possibly port polish and port matching, race muffler for a cat (no emissions required), and maybe a 100 shot of nitrous in the distant future. only looking to make about 325 hp and run low 14's, high 13's with the 2.73 posi rear (ran 15.2 with the 305)

Stronger but more brittle thancast aluminum, but not as strong asforged. Used as OEM on many cars.

With your plans they will not be any problems. Higher Horsepower setups are using that type of piston.

I have a friend who races on a circle track and he recomended them and he says he uses them all the time.

they are good to a point, I would not spray more than a 175 shot on them, and I would not go over 475 -500 overall on them, dont want to constantly turn high rpms with them

i had a teacher who built engines for 35+ years, and said that they would be ok up to a 250 shot if you did everything correctly, and only used the nitrous when you are supposed to (at wot), unlike kids who punch it as they leave the line. i dont plan on making more than 350 hp or spin more than 5k rpms max, so i should be ok

The nice thing about hypereutectic pistons is that they don't expand as much as forged aluminium ones do, so you can run tighter clearances.
