Default Heads and Head gaskets

I have a 94 Z28

I was just told by the mechanic that my head gaskets are blow and my valves may need to be redone.

Labor alone is quote at 14 hours and $1100.

Then it costs 250 just to send in the valves and they may neeed to be redone too which costs more money.

My car is currently stock and i was wondering if it would be a good idea to Ported and Polished Heads since the mechanic is in there already. What is a good set of ported and polished heads for street use?

if u are car friendly i would say do it your self and send the heads into elliotts head works and have them done. the budget job is 800. so for less than a k u can get more hp and get the job done. thats if u can stand to only do the heads while your in there. there also was some new heads on ebay that u could pick up for about 400. plus shipping. i got a set for 350 and am now saving to have elleotts do the ltle2 job to them. look to me like i could bolt them up as is with no problem. very little rust on the spring retainers and thats it, look like new otherwise. just looked and the guy (swing.dance) that had them is not showing any more for sale. maybe get ahold of him and see if theres more.

I think I'm just going to get all new heads on it.

any recommendations on one set vs. the other.

I am eventually gonna drop a cam in, but keep it a daily driver.

thanks

Do you have any experience with elliott's. I gave him a call and it seemed like a pretty good option.
