heads
Any olderheads in the junk yard would most likly be smog heads 882s are kind of common 993s are a better casing both are about 76 cc chamber and valve sizes are different so you need to measure each head. remember most of the prior to mid seventy heads do not have hardened seats. To make a long expanation short (Ive researched this a little) the vortec heads are your best bet they need a specific manifold though the casting numbers are either 906 or 062 they are basically the same except some of the 906 castings came with a pressed in hardened exhaust seat they use a slotted rocker and in stock form are limited to around .460 lift. I believe they came in 96 to 99 trucks and tahoes I know the 062s have three triangles stamped on the end. These heads are probable the best flowing stock gen 1 smallblock factory head I picked a set up for $200 about a month ago they are going for more on ebay.
