Default Freeze plugs

Garggle. i was working on my camarotoday and I was almost ready to fire it up i just needed to flush radiator and refill check for leaks and stuff. then my smartass brother came out and said hummm...... you might wanna check the freeze plugs.

I hate it when my brothers right. anyhoo is it next to impossible to change the freeze plugs in a 1980 305 v8 with the engine installed in the car? also i checked for plugs and they had both copper and steel plugs at around the same price, Which is better?

most of the we just knocked them on in and installed the new ones, they are to big to get in to anything, ive always used the metal ones, never had a problem, just make sure you use silicone or that yellow 3-m glue ,wipe it around the plug before you put it in.make sure it is nice and dry.if you had a slide hammer you could drill a hole in the plug and try to pull the plug out, that sounds to much like work to me especially in the car body.

Get a punch, tap it at one end and knock it sideways, then pull it out with a vise grips. I use indian head when I install new ones it seals way better than silicon and monkey snot. use the brass core plugs they dont corrode like the steel do.
