Default Engine chip question

What is a good chip for a 1995 3.4L? And what do they actually do? I need to know in a better detail...

Most advance timing, adjust shift setpoints/pressures (for auto), and some can/will remove top speed and/or rev limiter.

A good chip for any 4th gen Camaro is a Dorito, let me explain...

You should sit and eat a bag (you don't have to eat it all, you get the same performance either way) of Doritos as you watch someone dyno tune your car, or as you wait for your PCMforLess tune to come in the mail.

Seriously though, all sarcasm aside, the 4th gens have a reprogrammable PCM, so you don't need to use an actual "chip." The best thing to do is to get the car tuned on an actual Dyno by a professional. Second best from that is to get a mail-in tune from the guys over at PCMforLess.com, they'll do a trade so you send them your PCM, they'll send you one programmed for you car. The handheld tuners are a $300 paperweight. In all actuality a tune isn't something that you're going to get much benefit out of until you have some other mods on the car other than bolt-ons. You would need at least headers to get some gain from a tune, and you would surely need a tune if you had any internal mods (heads/cam etc.), but on a stock motor you can't get too much.
